Cart Rules

As a cart user on the course, we ask that you take time to read and understand these simple guidelines for the use of carts at the Ballarat Golf Club.
A cart is defined as any motorized vehicle, including but not limited to golf carts, utility vehicles and similar small transport vehicles, regardless of size or intended use.

NEVER DRIVE A GOLF CART:

  • Within hazard boundary lines
  • Within 5 meters of water hazards or bunkers
  • Within 20 meters of any green or within the Blue Line marked area.
  • On any tee areas
  • Through mud or casual water
  • Within the undercover areas of the clubhouse

Par 3’s - Golf carts may not leave cart paths on holes 8, 11, and 17. No access to fairway is permitted on these holes as to do so requires travelling over rough areas. The 6th hole has a path to fairway and therefore can be taken as far as the blue line. To exit to the green the cart must return to path and proceed from there to green.

Blue Lines on Fairways – No carts are allowed beyond this point.

Roughs – Cart must be kept out of the rough areas at all times. This includes the first cut areas.

Cut Through Points - There are approved cross over points from one fairway to another in a number of places on holes. These points are marked with signage and are the only approved area of rough for carts to be on.

A maximum of 2 carts is permitted per playing group.

Juniors:

  • Any member 13 years or younger will not be allowed to operate a motorised cart on the Ballarat Golf Club Course.
  • Any member between the ages of 14 to 17 years will be required to seek approval from the Board of the Ballarat Golf to operate a privately owned motorised cart on the Ballarat Golf Club Course

The use of a Pro Shop cart is only available to people over the age of 18 years of age that hold a current driver’s licence.

The Ballarat Golf Club will not be held responsible under any circumstances for a cart that is driven outside of the course grounds.
All members should follow the carts cart policy at all times.

Golf Cart Etiquette:

  • Operate golf carts in a careful and safe manner.
  • Always stay on designated cart paths when possible.
  • Signs and ropes must be adhered to at all times.
  • No more than two riders are allowed on any cart.
  • All golf cart riders must be seated.
  • Around clubhouse speed must not exceed walking pace.
  • Be extra vigilant on cart paths around the clubhouse for pedestrians.
  • Don’t take the cart to places on the course where it is not intended to go.

Failure to follow these simple rules may result in disciplinary action from the Club including but not limited to written warnings, suspension & fines. Please acknowledge that you have received a copy of the cart rules by signing the cart usage register.
